A few practical details to help you understand how care is provided at Blue Water Medical.

01

Use of AI-enabled tools

At Blue Water Medical, we use AI-powered autoscribe technology to securely draft medical notes during your visit, freeing your provider to focus more on you. Every note is reviewed, edited, and approved by your provider before it becomes part of your medical record. Our tools have been vetted by Canada Health Infoway, meeting national standards for privacy and security. Use is completely voluntary, just let your provider know if you'd prefer your visit be documented manually, and it won't affect your care in any way.

02

Prenatal and pregnancy care

Our clinic offers prenatal exams up to the third trimester and early screening tests, including dating ultrasound and bloodwork. Care is then transferred to your chosen provider, whether that is an obstetrician, family physician, or midwife.

If you are newly pregnant, please book within 1–2 weeks so we can arrange your early screenings.

03

Newborn and pediatric care

Routine baby care is offered at 1 week and at 1, 2, 4, 6, 12, and 18 months. Routine pediatric exams are offered at ages 2, 3, and 4.

Not all early childhood immunizations are done in-house. You may be directed to a local vaccination clinic, and some in-house vaccinations may be possible after discussion with your provider.

After birth, families can register their baby for BC Medical Services Plan through the BC Vital Statistics Agency's online birth registration. Please complete this promptly.

04

Services not covered by MSP

Some services are not covered by MSP and may involve a fee. Examples include cryotherapy for warts, with some exceptions; excisions of certain lesions; and cortisone injections for keloids.

Most forms are also not covered, including sick notes and forms for camp, work, school, or immigration.
